New Years Resolutions? CONQUERED.

New Year's resolutions are hard to keep. We get it. Sometimes you aren't ready for the change, sometimes you sabotage yourself for one reason or another, and sometimes life just plain gets in the way. What do you do? Cross your fingers and hope that you can get yourself together for next year? Nah! We can help you make 2018 the year that you finally achieve whatever goal it is that you've been working on.

So, what ARE the greatest obstacles keeping you from accomplishing your New Year’s goals? Well, simply put, your goals may not be realistic, clear, or concise enough.

1. First, before you start thinking of ALL the things you want to do or change in 2018, make sure that you aren’t setting yourself up for failure by biting off more than you can chew. Just choose one or two things to focus on.

Example: I would like to spend more time with my family this year.

2. Next, take the time to lay out a straightforward and precise plan to follow.

Example: Every weekday evening that there aren't after-school or after-work activities going on, we will eat dinner together at the table and one Saturday evening a month will be game night. I will write all designated family time on the home calendar so that everyone knows.

3. Lastly, remember that nobody is perfect, and failures or mistakes are completely to be expected. Just come up with a plan to help you get back on track when the inevitable happens!

Example: If we miss a week of dinners together or a game night, we will make it up with a family weekend outing to reconnect and restart.

Yes, it really IS that simple. Soon enough, your resolution will be a habit and you will be well on your way to incorporating it into your everyday life. As always, if there is anything we can do to help steer you in the right direction, give us a call! We would be honored to help support you on the journey to being your best you. We truly hope that you are inspired to never give up on your resolutions and we wish you the best in the New Year!
