Amanda Schmehil-Micklos
MD, OB-GYN
Accepting New Patients
Dr. Schmehil is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology who values relationships. She knows how important a strong doctor-patient bond is to the health of the patients she sees in her practice.
“One reason I went into this medical specialty is that it’s important to me to be able to support the varied needs a patient can have throughout their lifetime,” she says. “During any given day, I may care for a patient in labor, perform a gynecologic procedure, and see a patient for an annual exam. There are always new challenges and rewards, and I love that I am able to form relationships with my patients.”
Dr. Schmehil lives in Fitchburg with her husband Chris and daughter Olivia (Livy). Livy is the light of their lives and keeps the family dog, Ygor (Iggie), on his toes. She has given Dr. Schmehil a first-hand understanding of the challenges of motherhood and the balance necessary to be a happy, healthy working mom.
Dr. Schmehil is active in her support of Planned Parenthood and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health.
Dr. Schmehil graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Her interest in parental and child health also led her to earn a master’s degree in Public Health from Boston University. She joined Associated Physicians in 2011.
“Practicing at Associated Physicians is incredibly fulfilling. All of our staff, from reception to physicians, really value caring for each patient and their family. I experience this myself, first hand, through my own family's health care, and I think it's a testament to our commitment to personalized, high-quality care that so many of our employees choose to receive their family's health care at Associated Physicians. I love that the whole family can receive care in one practice!”
