I was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus. After moving to the United States when I was 14, I basically grew up in Madison, so I am a Badger through and through! I majored in biochemistry at UW–Madison and even dabbled in research at the UW School of Pharmacy. But my true passion was in medicine, so I completed my medical education at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. I moved to Indiana for my residency at St. Vincent Hospital and returned to Wisconsin to practice in Milwaukee before joining Associated Physicians.
I can't say that my choice to become an OB/GYN was a calculated decision, but rather a revelation or an "a-ha" moment. It truly felt like this was meant to become my profession, not just a job. I found that taking part in women's healthcare was rewarding in so many ways, as we don't just get to treat a condition, but can focus on preventing it in the first place. Continuity of care has always been important to me, and seeing patients through all phases of life, from adolescence to menopause, was exactly what I was looking for. I believe a good patient-doctor relationship is built on trust and transparency, and I value spending face-to-face time with my patients so they not only feel heard, but actually listened to.
What I love most about OB/GYN is the breadth and depth of the specialty, from preventive care and patient education to the hands-on, procedural aspects of medicine. Increasing awareness and advocating for my patients' health is a big part of the job. I couldn't be happier to have found my place at Associated Physicians. I look forward to being part of such a patient- and community-focused practice and working alongside amazing, like-minded physicians. This practice feels like one big family with a strong support system that will allow me to provide the best care for my patients.
