Welcome to lactation at Associated Physicians! It is our continued goal to support the needs of lactating parents through consultations, educational resources, personal stories, and more!

Please note, Associated Physicians provides judgment-free care to ALL parents no matter how they feed their children. If you need access to other infant feeding resources such as formula assistance, donor milk, etc. we are here to help.

Who We Are

We are a group of healthcare professionals in Pediatrics and OB/GYN who have specialized credentials in lactation: Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs). This means that we have received advanced training and competency verification in breastfeeding and human lactation support.

Our training includes assessing the latching and feeding process, providing corrective interventions, and counseling lactating parents. These certifications are important in building trust with our patients and allow them added confidence in our ability to provide expert support along the breast/chestfeeding journey.

What To Expect

During pregnancy, our OB/GYN patients will be scheduled with OB/GYN Education Nurse and CLC, Amanda Van Elzen, for their first, 30-week, and postpartum OB visits. Typically, at the 30-week visit with Amanda, you will start the discussion about breast/chestfeeding and lactation. CLICK HERE to learn more about Amanda.
