WELCOME TO THE CLUB!

As doctors, we LOVE that reading helps with improving focus + memory, and reduces stress, all while helping you learn important new perspectives.

The OB/GYN department is excited to partner with Leopold's and Mystery To Me to bring the joys of literary works to Madison through their monthly exclusive book selections!

Every month one of your friendly, Associated Physicians OB-GYN Physicians picks out a book, related to a topic in health, society, things that our important to us and make us talk and learn.  We all love to read so we thought, why not share with those who are most important to us: our patients and the community we serve!  We have partnered with local bookstores, Leopold’s and Mystery to Me, to give you dibs on our favorite book of the month, and then we can chat about it!  Join the book club at the link below to receive exclusive forums and details.

"This uniquely told story through the perspective of different letter writers sits close to my heart. I don't know how to quite describe the feelings of humanity, closeness, loneliness, love and loss, and so much more that filled me as I read this book - and actually, while I am not a big audiobook person (I get so distracted!) I actually DID listen to this book and think that if you can, that is 100% way to experience this book. Each letter writer has their own voice and you grow so connected to each of them! I simply loved this book and can't wait to share it with everyone I can!"

"It’s a fun, easy read that will have you fully absorbed in the lives of the students and staff at Tiffin Academy, a posh New England boarding school à la Gossip Girl. It has absolutely nothing to do with medicine, but sometimes that is what you need and it’s the perfect escape from these freezing winter days!"

- Dr. Amanda Schwartz

While I love reading a physical book, I would highly recommend listening to this book.

This is my absolute favorite audiobook ever! This book is told through multiple characters, including a widow consumed by grief, a young man searching for his roots, and most notably.... an Octopus.   Yes, an Octopus!

The book weaves together a gentle mystery with deeply human themes of loss, loneliness, aging, forgiveness, and second chances. As hidden truths begin to surface, the story explores how grief shapes a life, how community can both comfort and complicate, and how connection often arrives from the most unlikely places.

Both tender and uplifting, Remarkably Bright Creatures balances humor with emotional depth, focusing on themes of family, resilience, and what it means to truly see and be seen. It's blend of warmth, charm, and quiet suspense makes it a compelling and memorable yet hopeful read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
