Accepting New Patients

Dr. Jean Carstensen is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She is a Madison native and proud graduate of Madison East High School (Go Purgolders!), she received her bachelor's degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  She then received her medical degree from The Medical College of Wisconsin and subsequently completed residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. After residency, Dr. Carstensen worked at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics and The University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC).  There she did primary care in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, as well as inpatient hospital care. Also, she served as an associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program. Dr. Carstensen then worked at Michigan Medicine in the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics clinic practicing primary care. 

 

She moved back to Madison in 2021 to be closer to family and previously was practicing primary care in Columbus, WI. As a board certified Internist and Pediatrician, Dr. Carstensen is excited to care for patients of all ages, particularly multiple generations of families. 

 

Outside of work, Jean enjoys spending time with her 3 kids, partner and dog as well as her extended family. She spends time in her garden, doing home improvement projects, shuttling her kids to various activities, and finding time to exercise when she can.
