Dr. Burns is a board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology who knew early in medical school that women’s health was her calling.

 

“I was working with a family practice doctor in an outreach program, and he took me with him to the delivery of one of his patients,” she recalls, with a smile. “As soon as I saw the baby born, I knew that was what I wanted to do. There was no going back after that.”

Dr. Burns, who speaks English and Spanish, has continued to participate in professional and community medical outreach programs, both in Wisconsin and internationally.

 

At Associated Physicians, Dr. Burns provides comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology health care services for women of all ages. She performs checkups and gynecological exams, advises patients on birth control, family planning, menopause and more, provides prenatal and postnatal care, performs deliveries and surgeries, and diagnoses and treats conditions ranging from mild infections to serious health complications.

Dr. Burns graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her residency training at the University of Iowa. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Burns joined Associated Physicians in 2010.

 

“I think as a clinic we are just the right size for getting to know our patients well. And they get to know us well, too,” she says. “It’s also important to me that our colleagues in other specialties and support services are available right here, because that is a real benefit to our patients.”
