A Strong Bond

Dr. Schmehil is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology who values relationships. She knows how important a strong doctor-patient bond is to the health of the women she sees in her practice.

“One reason I went into this medical specialty is that it’s important to me to be able to support the varied needs a patient can have throughout her lifetime,” she says. “During any given day, I may care for a woman in labor, perform a gynecologic procedure, and see a woman for an annual exam. There are always new challenges and rewards, and I love that I am able to form relationships with my patients.”

Caring for Women’s Health

Dr. Schmehil and her husband live in Fitchburg and enjoy traveling. She is active in her support of Planned Parenthood and the Humane Society. And their dog, Karloff, she reports with a laugh, enjoys being spoiled by both of them.

Dr. Schmehil graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Her interest in maternal and child health also led her to earn a master’s degree in Public Health from Boston University. She joined Associated Physicians in 2011.

Comprehensive Care

At Associated Physicians, Dr. Schmehil provides comprehensive obstetrics and gynecological health care services for women of all ages. She performs checkups and gynecological exams, advises patients on birth control and family planning, provides prenatal care, performs deliveries and surgeries, and diagnoses and treats conditions ranging from mild infections to chronic and serious health problems.

“During my residency at the University of Wisconsin, I had the opportunity to work with most of the obstetrics and gynecology groups in town,” she says. “I found that patients at Associated Physicians are some of the most satisfied because they feel truly cared for by their doctors.”
